West Vancouver

The main communities run east to west along the waterfront: Ambleside and Dundarave (walkable village cores), the British Properties and Chartwell (hillside estates with views), Caulfeild and Eagle Harbour (quieter, west-end residential), and Horseshoe Bay (the BC Ferries terminal village at the western tip).

It's a combination of waterfront and mountain-view lots, large established properties (many dating to the mid-century), proximity to downtown via the Lions Gate Bridge, top-ranked public schools, and strict zoning that has historically limited densification — supply stays very tight relative to demand.

Rockridge Secondary (IB Middle Years Programme, Advanced Placement), Sentinel Secondary (French Immersion, Advanced Placement, ~1,160 students), West Vancouver Secondary (IB Diploma, Arts, Trades), and West Vancouver Schools (SD45) — 14 elementary and 3 secondary schools district-wide.

Park Royal Shopping Centre (Metro Vancouver's first shopping centre, major expansion), Ambleside Village shops and restaurants along Marine Drive, Dundarave Village's independent boutiques and cafés, and Caulfeild Village.

Cypress Mountain (skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing — a 2010 Olympic venue), Lighthouse Park (old-growth forest, granite shoreline, hiking trails), Whytecliff Park (diving, shoreline walks, marine-protected area), Ambleside Beach & Seawalk, Hollyburn Country Club, and West Vancouver Aquatic Centre.

West Vancouver is mainly known for a mix of established housing. West Vancouver is one of Metro Vancouver's most established luxury residential communities, stretching along the North Shore waterfront from Ambleside and Dundarave through the British Properties and out to Horseshoe Bay's BC Ferries terminal.
